Fylde Coast
With its centre at Blackpool, the Fylde Coast is one of the main coastal resorts in the north-west of England, and consequently attracts significant numbers of tourists, up to 13 million each year.
Since 2000 Blackpool has been the centre of regeneration efforts, integrating the area's traditional leisure draws with the historic seafront tramway, the oldest in the UK. The tramway has been refurbished in order to make it a transport mode fit for the 21st century, supplementing the famous vintage vehicles.
